FAIRFLEET TO RACE
"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. Fairfleet may race at Del Mar In California, this week-end. In a recent letter her trainer, M. C. Conway, a former New Zealander. said he hoped to have Fairfleet ready for the Del Mar Handicap, a $30,000 event, tomorrow. Fairfleet, which is at Del Mar with the rest of Conway’s team, attracted attention recently when she sprinted half a mi’e in 48sec. According to Conway, she could have bettered the time in spite of making the turn badly. Pacific Cross, another former New Zealand mare in Conway’s team, has “done everything right.” according to her trainer.
Conway has also been doing weM with My Lana, a filly owned by Mr J. J. Elmore, but for all his success, he is in a hurry to return home. He intends to resume training almost immediately he returns and is already looking for good but unsound horses, which might respond to beach work.
