Vegetable And Fruit Prices

The recent warm weather has not yet had any effect on the Christchurch produce market. Vegetable prices have continued to remain quite dear. Cabbages and cauliflowers were well supplied, but have kept their prices, which in some cases increased. North Island drumheads were dearest, with prices up to *3.35 a sack and *1.85 a case.

Carrots were very cheap, cases fetched only 50c, compared with *1 last week.

The first supply of local, glasshouse cucumbers were offered, and the small supply fetched up to 55c per lb. Tomatoes Increased by 8c per lb, when cases fetched between 36c and 68c per lb. Potatoes—7oc to *1.20 a s.b. Spring Onions—To *1 a doz. Radishes.—To 80c a dozen. Parsley.—To 12c bunch. Lettuces.—To *3 a case. Leeks.—soc to *1.20 a case. Celery.—To *3.05 a case. Spinach.—To *1.40 a case.
