Rose On Points
(NZ. Press Assn—Copyright) LOS ANGELES. Australia’s world bantamweight champion, L. Rose, survived a seventh-round knock-down after building 10-round fight against J. Medel, of Mexico, yesteran early lead to win his day. Two of the judges gave the non-title bout to Rose on points, but the referee, Mr G. Latka, had an even 6-6 card. “I thought I was ahead
on every card. I just can't see that 6-6,” Rose said. The Australian admitted that the 30-year-old Mexican could hit hard. “I caught a good left hook when I went down in the seventh,” he said. “I never lost my senses. I knew perfectly well what happened. My head was clear. I just made a mistake.” Medel, surprised at the decision, said: “I thought I won IL I went forward all the time. The other guy did nothing.”
