New Heathcote Chairman

Mr J. S. Scott was elected chairman of the Heathcote County Council at a special meeting yesterday. He succeeds Mr C. D. Le Comte, who after four years as chairman resigned at the last meeting. Mr Scott is the Heathcote riding representative on the council. For several years he has been chairman of the works committee and is the council’s longest-serving member.

Mr E. L. Tyndall, the Cashmere riding representative, was elected vice-chairman.

Crest Presented. —The crest of H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus was presented to the Canterbury branch of the Navy League at its annual meeting last evening by the Commanding Officer of H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus (Commander R. S. Sanderson). Crests which had been given to the branch were now displayed at Elizabeth House, the president (Mr J. P. Shelley) said.
