INCREASED PRICE?
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND. August 29.
To cover the cost of employing two attendants in all-night service stations between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.— the Service Station Proprietors' Federation has recommended an increase in the price of petrol sold during those hours. The federation’s decision came a few hours after an attack with an axe early this morning on a garage attendant at the Avenue Service Station in Remuera Road.
Mr E. J. Leadley, president of the federation, said that it was estimated the price increase required would amount to about 5c a gallon. He added: “We are not so worried about the increase—we are more worried about people getting hurt.”
