SYDNEY, Aug. 28.
A Sydney businessman said today he had written to President Ho Ghi Minh, offering his services as consulgeneral for North Vietnam in Australia. Mr Peter Clyne, a Sydney land developer, today inserted an advertisement in a national daily newspaper, the “Australian,” defying the Prime Minister (Mr John Gorton) to indict him for treason because of the move. Mr Clyne said he was extremely serious about the offer, and added: “I sincerely hope the President will accept. The Democratic Republic of Vietnam is a fully-con-stituted nation, and should be represented here. “The letter to President Ho Chi Minh left Sydney today. I have arranged for it to be posted in Switzerland. "If we are legally at war with North Vietnam, then I ought to be indicted for treason.” In his sixinch advertisement in the “Australian,” Mr Clyne stated: “ Challenge to the Prime Minister: Thousands of Australians look on
the presence of Australian and United States troops in Vietnam as an act of aggression. I am one of them, and so I support the people of Vietnam in their effort to repel this invasion.”
