Agents Seek Change In Mid-Week Racing
(Neu> Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 28. The T.A.B. Agents’ Association is to ask the Totalisator Agency Board to investigate the costs and profitability of mjd-week racing and night trotting, and to refer its finding to the Racing and Trotting Conferences for evaluation.
At the annual meeting of the association today, Canterbury delegates said that midweek meetings with small turnovers should race the same days as larger meetings, to absorb some of the operating costs. Delegates vojfcd in favour of the request. They had found that sales were generally very low for these meetings. Otago and Palmerston North delegates sponsored similar remits and the final draft incorporated all of them.
Delegates also asked that the board, through their representative, endeavour to influence racing and trotting clubs holding mid-week day meetings to schedule their meetings so that doubles closed at a time when it was possible for working people to place their bets during their lunch-time.
Soec,r Wins.—The New South Wales under-lS soccer team beat Nelson under-U, 2-0, yesterday. It was the team's third win of an eight-match tour. It has beaten Canterbury and Marlborough.
