Salvaged Cars From Wahine

WELLINGTON. Aug. 28. The first cars to be salvaged from the vehicle deck of the sunken ferry Wahine will be landed on Friday, salvage officials said today. Workmen are cutting a large hole in the ship’s hold so that cars can be lifted out
The mast has already been cut free and dropped to the seabed. It will be recovered later.
A tangled mass of chairs, mattresses, tables, deck railings and ventilators taken by barge to Queen’s wharf this morning, will be auctioned.
