Six Teams In Fencing
Six teams, from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, will take part in the New Zealand inter - secondary schools’ fencing tournament at Christchurch on the weekend.
The teams events were dominated by Auckland last year but Wellington and Christchurch are expected to provide spirited opposition this time. '
Twenty-six boys and 25 girls will contest the individual titles. Past performances suggest that A. Piper (Christchurch) and P. Bridsen (Auckland) may be the boys’ finalists. R. Matheson, the Canterbury champion, S. Grant - Taylor (Wellington) and D. Gordon (Auckland), the national runner-up last year, should be the leading competitors in the girls’ section.
