“Close Ports To Russians”

MELBOURNE, Aug. 26.
The Victorian Democratic Labour Party executive has called on the Federal Government to break diplomatic relations with Russia and close Australian ports to Russian ships. Fishing vessels should be included in the ban, the party said in a resolution published today. Australia's representatives to the United Nations should be instructed to press for world-wide economic sanctions against Soviet Russia and the other Warsaw Pact member-nations that invaded Czechoslovakia, the resolution said.
