Results, Trophies Presented, At Timaru Competitions

TIMARU, August 28. Trophies, the recipients of which are from Timaru unless otherwise shown, were presented by the member of Parliament for Timaru (Sir Basil Arthur) and Lady Arthur at the Timaru Competitions Society's demonstration concert tn the Theatre Boyal on Friday evening.

An unusual situation arose in so far as the award of the McCarthy Challenge Cup was concerned. Annette Hartnett (Pareora) failed to gain a place in the under-12 sword dance, but she won the trophy, which is awarded tor thia dance after John Fox (Temuka), the winner of the event, had his points tallied. His total pointe for the cup were equal to hie rival’s, who won the cup on a countback.
