Work Shortage Continues

AUCKLAND, August 27. The net profit of Street Construction. Ltd, Hamilton, rose $945 to $46,233 in the year to February 29 after depreciation $15,339 (down $1698) and tax of $44,100 (up $758).
The steady 10 per cent dividend takes $19,584.
The earning rate on average funds declined from 14.3 per cent to 13.4 per cent, and that on capital rose from 23.2 per cent to 23.6 per cent. Shareholders’ funds increased $26,924 to $358,998, including capital of $195,842. Shortage of work and consequent highly competitive tendering continue, the chairman (Mr C. A. Staples) reports.

Mr J. N. Fitzgerald has been appointed general manager of Tasman Vaccine Laboratory, Ltd. He has been Assistant general manager of Ivon Watkins-Dow, Ltd, New Plymouth, since 1964.
