MATRON TO RETIRE
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 27.
The matron-in-chief of the Auckkland hospital board for the last five years, Miss J. Taylor, will retire on June 1 next year, after 33 years in the nursing profession.
Miss Taylor trained at Christchurch Hospital, graduating with honours in 1939. A registered maternity nurse, she won top place in her final examinations in that field. In 1953 Miss Taylor spent two years in charge of a postgraduate nursing school in New Delhi, India, and in 1958 was awarded a Florence Nightingale Memorial scholarship, which enabled her to study at Toronto University. Before joining the Auckland Hospital Board, she was matron of the Princess Margaret Hospital in Christchurch. In a letter received by the Auckland Hospital Board today, Miss Taylor said she would be spending her retire ment in Christchurch.
