Fish-finder Research
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 27.
Financial support to allow Professor L. Kay, of Canterbury University, to produce a very efficient lowcost sonic fish-finder is still being sought by the Minister of Marine (Mr Scott).
“This issue is by no means closed,” Mr Scott said tonight “I 8m keenly interested in the proposition, and have not ceased exploring ways in which this might be done.” Mr Scott said that Professor Kay had written to him on his return from his recent overseas trip. Mr Scott has approached fishing interests for funds, and also has suggested an application to the Golden Kiwi Board of Control. It has been suggested that since devaluation the prospects have greatly improved for a New Zealand-produced commercial fish-finder as an export to the Australian market.
