MISSIONARY WORKER

Miss Rosemary Gordon, of Oamaru, the headmistress of St Hilda's School, Bunana, in the British Solomon Islands, who is in New Zealand on furlough, will be the guest speaker at the annual meeting of the friends and supporters of the Melanesian Mission to be held in the chapter room of Christchurch Cathedral on September 19 Before becoming headmistress of St Hilda’s, Miss Gordon was teaching at Vureas School in the New Hebrides. Two other New Zealanders working at Bunana, an island ■ few miles from Taroaniara, are Miss M. Smith, of Opawa, who completed the first six months of her service in Melanesia at Pamua, and Miss P. Medkle, of Nelson, who is spending two years at Bunana as a Voluntary Service Abroad graduate worker.

The fourth European mem ber of the staff is Miss M. Lees, of Western Australia.
