ONE OF THE NEWLY-COMPLETED CRUISE-LAUNCH LIFEBOATS for the Queen Elizabeth II being lowered into the Thames at East Molesey, Surrey, before being transported to the John Brown shipyard on the Clyde, where the liner is being completed. The launches are 40ft long with a 12ft beam. The hull and superstructure are made of fibre-glass that is proof against corrosion and needs minimum maintenance. The launches are luxuriously fitted with aircraft-type seating and carpets. The liner will carry six of these craft, which will supplement the 12 lifeboats and other life-saving equipment on board.
