Protest By U.N. Group

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, August 26. The United Nations Association of New Zealand was deeply concerned about the invasion of Czechoslovakia by the five Warsaw Pact nations, said the president (Mr M. S. Pitt) in a letter today to the World Federation of United Nations Associations. In his letter, copies of which have been sent to the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and to the Russian Minister in New Zealand (Mr B. Y. Dorofeev), Mr Pitt said that the New Zealand organisation wanted to be associated with any protest made by the federation to the United Nations. The invasion was a breach of article two of the United Nations Charter and was an arbitrary flouting of the declaration of human rights, he said.
