MAORI POP SONGS
Complaint Of Shortage
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Aug. 26.
There were not enough Maori pop songs, the DirectorGeneral of Broadcasting (Mr G. H. Stringer) said to Wellington Rotarians today. Maori radio programmes were popular with radio stations in many countries, he said. “Letter after letter from all over the world comments on the excellence of our Maori programmes.
“But it is our misfortune that the chief limiting factor is the number of popular melodies available,” he said.
