E.S.U. Jubilee Observed
The South Island Trade Commissioner for Australia (Mr H. M. G. Daniel) was the guest speaker at an “at-home” meeting held at Elizabeth House last evening by the Canterbury branch of the English-speaking Union to mark officially the golden jubilee of the foundation of the union.
Mr Daniel spoke to members after a buffet dinner. Guests Included the Mayor of Christchurch (Sir George Manning), the president of the North America Club (Mr R. W. Becker), the president of the Canterbury branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society (Mr K. H. Bartlett) and the chairman of the Canterbury branch of the Royal Overseas League (Mr J. H. Wakefield). Other members of the North America Club also attended.
