Insurances Have Good Gains On Quiet Market

Insurances again made good gains, but other shares advanced cautiously, on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, with a narrow margin of rises over falls in small movement. Trading was below average over a narrow range of issues.

Leaders were firmer. . Except for New Zealand Refrigerating, which rose 2c, to 114 c, meat shares were steady in spite bf Waitaki’s announcement of record turnover and higher dividend. Early Brothers reacted to the interim statement of higher sales with a gain of 2c, to 152 c.

N.Z. Sea Products, which is working a four-day week from today, lost Ic, to 18c. Motor Holdings, in spite of an optimistic statement of improved sales and Trekka exports to Australia, lost 1c to 75c. B.H.P. lost sc, to 2435 c.
