Stepping Out Safely
Sir, —"A pedestrian can stop in one step—almost instantly—but a car travelling at 30 m.p.h. takes about 11 car lengths for a normal emergency stop.” The most graphic description of how to avoid pedestrian injuries, and accidents of sometimes up to si'- cars telescoping into one another, caused by pedestrians. is the publication of the chart and text containing this opening sentence. A copy of this article, issued to every scholar and with every motor licence, would do much for skfety.—Yours, etc., SETH NEWELL. August 26, 1968.
