WARWICK STAKES

Rajah Sahib Third (N.Z.P A. Staff Correspondent) SYDNEY. The New Zealand colt, Rajah Sahib, made an impressive Australian debut at Warwick Farm on Saturday when he ran third in the seven-furlong Warwick Stakes. The colt, sold to Australia recently for a reported $40,000, finished three-quarters of a lengtti and a length behind the A.J.C. Derby winner, Swift Peter, and Cottonon. The disappointment of the race was the New Zealand mare Unpainted, which beat only one of the six horses home- she was the favourite. Rajah Sahib faded abotit half a furlong from home when lie was running a close second to Cottonon. As well as his con dition giving out, Rajah Sahib was unbalanced by Cottonon, which took the home turn badly and carried the New Zealand colt wide.

Swift Peter came from last at the home turn to score with a dashing finishing burst. Unpainted looked a chance approaching the home bend but gave nothing in the straight. She was beaten for fourth by an outsider, Nagambie.
