Because of its forward superiority, Shirley snatched a narrow win, and second place in the D.C.L. Shield competition, at Richmond Park. The winning try, Cope’s second, was scored only two minutes from time and retrieved the game after a brilliant 60-yard try by Wallis had given University B a .one-point lead. University had the more polished back-line, but Shirley obtained more ball from set play, depriving the University backs of scoring opportunities. Referee: Mr K. G. N. Orsbourn.
