BASKETBALL Hurunui Proves Too Strong For Lincoln
Hurunui proved too gtronr for Lincoln wh*n teams from these two suo-associations mat in representative basketball matches at Waiau on Saturday. But for a gusty wind, conditions for play were good.
The senior game started evenly, but as the teams Mttled down, Hurunui’s superiority became evident, with better passing and positional play. The defence played well, with H. Pooley
aod K Pettigrew interceptfn the Lfocolo team, B. Gilbert, playing her first game of the Mason, showed she had lost none of ber skills. Play deteriorated during the second spell, when there were more Infringements, tost patMs, and scrappy plsy. Late in the spell, Lincoln made a determined bid, but could not overtake Hurunui.
Result* were:— Senter.—A: Hurunui won, 29-19. Bt Hurunui won, 28-13.
High School.—A: Hurunui wen, 38-9. B: Hurunui won, 19-8.
Primary.—A: Hurunui won, 12-5. B: Hurunui won, 8-8.
