DIVIDEND PAYMENT
Greymouth Club Proposal
(N.Z. Press Association) GREYMOUTH. The Greymouth Trotting Club Is to press for the opening of Totalisator Agency Board pay-out facilities after 5 p.m. on the evenings of night trotting meetings.
• The present hours for payouts were described at the annual meeting of the club, on Tuesday night, as antiquated. Moving that the club press for the extended time, Mr P. James said a night trotting meeting was just like another race day. The payment of dividends after 5 p.m. would allow trotting clubs to gain the benefit from T.A.B. turnover. Assistance could not be expected from galloping clubs. “I feel this club must do something and the only way it can achieve this is by attack,” he said. The club’s president (Dr B. W. Nixon) said it had been reported at the recent annual meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Conference that the T.A.B. was opposed to the scheme. Attention had been drawn then to the bad effect money tied up In the T.A.B. was having on night trotting. The committee of the club will consider the merits of running an off-course concession double at its meetings.
