Car Badly Damaged
Mr J. T. Marshall, of 17 Waipara Street, was fortunate to escape serious injury when his car hit a pole in Blenheim Road, near Curletts Road, at 8 a.m. yesterday.
Mr Marshall swerved to avoid a bus. The front of his car was wrecked when it hit the pole, the front wheel suspension being torn off and the engine broken from its mountings.
A St John ambulance took Mr Marshall to the Christchurch Hospital. He was discharged after treatment for small cuts on his head and legs.
