Diversification “There is always the potential danger of people being carried away by rosy ideas of diversification—that it is some sort of panacea,” said the Minister of Agriculture and Science (Mr Taiboys), speaking of New Zealand’s economic problems at the opening of the annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Agricultural Science at Lincoln College yesterday. “To me your programme is an impressive reminder that diversification is not necessarily the development of some new crop. It is more likely to be found in the development of new products from our basic raw materials of meat, milk and wool, and of course the exploitation of new techniques in growing old crops.” World Weather The world’s weather on Monday, reported by the Associated Press and A.A.P.Reuter, was: Rome 64 degrees minimum, 81 degrees maximum, sunny; Paris 50, 70, sunny; London 55, 66, cloudy; Berlin 50, 64, showers; Amsterdam 61, 64, sunny; Brussels 53, 68, variable; Madrid 68, 84, sunny; Moscow 61, 76, sunny; Stockholm 55, 70, cloudy; New York 54, 73, partly cloudy; San Francisco 58, 64, cloudy; Tokyo 75, 88, cloudy; Mexico City 52, 74, clear; Buenos Aires 57, 67, rain; Singapore 75, 82, fair; Sydney 48, 72, fine.
