R. Aun, the Russian silver medallist at the Tokyo Games, has set a new Soviet decathlon record in the national athletics championships at Leninakan, just over 5000 ft above sea level.
Aun scored 8026 points to improve his own previous record by 47 points. In the women’s high jump Miss A. Okorokova leapt to a new Russian record of 6ft jin. It ranked as one of the best jumps in the world this season.
