Town Hall Tenders
Tenders for the town hall would close on October 9 and be reported to the main town hall committee the next day or the day after, the town hall committee reported io the Christchurch City Council on Monday evening. It was agreed that tenders should be called for the demolition of buildings on the site. Vacant possession was expected about the middle of next month, the committee said.
Cr H. G. Hay, chairman of the committee, said it was hoped that the foundation stone would be laid early next year. That would be an appropriate occasion for the handing over of the funds of Town Hall Promotion to the council on behalf of ail the local bodies which had contributed. The council agreed that when the town hall was completed there should be a plaque acknowledging the participation of all the local bodies and Town Hall Promotion in the project
