Australian College Of Dental Surgeons
The first annual meeting of the New Zealand fellows of the Australian College of
Dental Surgeons will be held in Christchurch on August 23 and will be followed by the Inaugural dinner. The president of the Australian College of Dental Surgeons (Dr A. G. Rowell) will formally admit New Zealand inaugural fellows to the college. New Zealand has more than 60 inaueural fellows of the college. Sir John Walsh, dean of the Otago University Dental School, the only New Zealand honorary fellow of the college, will propose the toast to the college. Dr D. E. Poewillo, who recently returned to New Zealand from London where he spent 18 months as a Nuffield fellow and Hunterian professor of the Royal College of Surgeons, will be the speaker at the dinner. The Australian College of Dental Surgeons was inaugurated in Sydney in 1965. The objects of the college are to advance the science and art of dentistry and to encourage study and research. To carry out these functions the college initiates lectures, postgraduate courses, and conducts examinations for entrance to the college as fellows.
The first primary and final examinations for entrance to the college are being held this year.
