THIS NEW COLOUR TELEVISION VEHICLE for outside broadcasts, believed to be the first of its type in Britain, is designed to be used while on the move. Called Unit 7, the £130,000 vehicle will fill many roles, among them making drama inserts and recording news items. It has its own generator, and its facilities include two colour channels, two monochrome channels, a video tape recorder, and full production facilities. Space is also provided for microwave link equipment to be installed at a later date. Communications systems are provided between technical and production areas, and a commentator’s position, including an Ilin monitor screen, is fitted in the driver’s cabin.
