EMERGENCY FUND
Proposal By Teachers
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, August 20. The establishment of an emergency fund to prepare for the possibility of direct action by secondary schoolteachers, was approved by the annual conference of the Post-Primary Teachers’ Association today. The conference agreed to increase the subscriptions of full members of the association by $5.20 a year to establish the fund. Mr A. B. Gordon (Wellington) said that by 1970 the fund could contain $200,000. “It is no use talking about direct action. We have to back it up effectively,” Mr Gordon said.
