Firm Buying Interest On Active Market
Share prices firmed further over a broad front on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. Trading was active, over a narrower range. Most of the gain was by second-line stocks; leaders, although firm on balance, lagged behind.
Most changes were small. Henderson and Pollard continued its spectacular rise, and gained another Bc. to close at 145 c. The shares have risen 31c in less than three weeks. J. Wattle Canneries rose 4c, to 233 c. N.Z. Petroleum continued to react, and put on another 25c. to 375 c. Burnetts lost 7c of the recent gain after the news that profit almost doubled. B.H.P. lost 15c, to 2470 c.
