Breeders’ Association Changes Name
Canterbury Dairy Breeds Association was the new name agreed upon at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Combined Breeders’ Association. The change was considered desirable as the old title did not clearly identify the purpose of the association. The annual meeting was attended- by delegates from the Friesian, Ayrshire, Midland Canterbury Jersey, and North Canterbury Jersey cattle clubs.
There had been a demand for ail breeds and a noticeable improvement in the standard of stock offered at the annual bull sale held in October, said the president
(Mr R. G. Mclntosh, of Prebbleton). The association's annual bull sale would be held on October 10 and entries would close on August 30, said the secretary (Mr R. J. M. Millar, of Ohoka).
The butterfat standard for dams of bulls offered would be 4501 b, with two-year-olds and three-year-olds to be on maturity basis. Bulls from dams below this standard would be sold in the B division. Officers.—President, Mr D. J. Martyn (Rangiora); vicepresident, Mr A. C. Lambie (Lakeside): secretary-treas-urer. Mr R. J. M. Millar (Ohoka).
