OFFICERS OF A.A.C.

There would be no postal ballot for seats on the council of the Automobile Association (Canterbury) this year because the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, the general manager of the association (Mr E. S. Palliser) said after nominations closed at 5 p.m. yesterday. Mr J. R. Maling was nominated unopposed for election as president, and Mr T. D. Craig was nominated unopposed for election as vicepresident. Mr T. W. Milliken, who had been president for the last three years, did not seek reelection and would become immediate past president, Mr Palliser said. Five nominations only were received for the five vacancies on the council. They were Mr L. W. Broadhead, who was the immediate past president, Messrs G. Harvey and A. I. R. Jamieson, retiring councillors, Mr N. F. Greenslade, a former councillor, and Mr H. G. Hunt. Two retiring councillors, Messrs C. H. Browne and N. W. Tillman, did not seek reelection. The-nominees would be declared elected at the annual meeting of the association on October 22. Sitting councillors who did not retire this year were Messrs E. R. Casbolt, E. C. Champion, G. W. Falck, J. W. Lincoln and L. H. Wilson. At annual meetings on August 24 and September 2, the Buller and West Coast branches of the association would elect their delegates to the council, Mr Palliser said. The present delegates were Messrs A. Nottle, of Westport, and W. G. Bryant, of Hokitika.
