The Town Hall

Sir, —There is a feeling of quiet satisfaction in and around the district that the long-cherished dream for this focal point for our civic and cultural activities is actually to become a reality. The committee is to be congratulated on the success of its efforts. To keep the interest and enthusiasm boiling, as we see the site cleared and the edifice taking shape, it is suggested that a competition be held for awards to artists and writers. Dividing the period to the opening date into two, prizes could be offered for painting, plays, music, novels, poems, etc., for each period, with a major prize for the best—to be presen‘ed at the opening ceremony. What a red letter day this could be! —Yours, etc., JOHN CITIZEN. August 9, 1968.
