Solomon says
W E only had four correct last week and feel like a “wretched soul bruised in adversity.”
However—and It may be most apposite—we take some solace from the “Comedy of Errors” where it is said, “advers-. ity’s sweet milk philosophy."
As this is our last opportunity to achieve our desideratum of all seven matches correctly prophesied, this week’s selections are made with due solemnity.
Lincoln College will beat New Brighton; Old Old Boys, for whom we shed a silent tear last week, will beat Christchurch. “Hern’s Hippies” will have a “score-in.”
In view of the recent performances we think that Marist will have to achieve something more positive if it is to beat University B. A rejuvenated Shirley team will beat Sydenham, and Linwood will beat Albion. University A will beat Suburbs and Belfast and Merivale-Papanui will draw.
Like Prospero, we may now put away our book, but, unlike him, our revels are not necessarily ended. As we mentioned earlier we have our 1000 wives to consider and we go now, as Ann Hathaway might have said . . . and off to bed with a will.
