Members Of Executive
Two Canterbury members of the Country Women’s Institute who have been elected to the Dominion executive committee, Mrs C. H. Bethell (North Canterbury federation) and Mrs G. E. McLachlan (Canterbury federation), were congratulated at the monthly meeting of the Canterbury East federation. Final arrangements were made for the federation concert to be held at Lincoln on August 16. Members of the arts and crafts groups will demonstrate at the Industries Fair, and other members will compete in the coordinating committee’s spinning and knitting competition.
Surgeon On Tour. Dr Christiaan Barnard, the heart surgeon, left by air last night at the start of a three-week trip to Australia, Italy, Monaco, Thailand, the Netherlands, and Rhodesia.—Johannesburg, August 8.
