Criticism Of Review
A review of the Bumside High School production of “The Mikado” which appeared in “The Press” on Wednesday was criticised at a meeting of the school board of governors on Thursday evening.
It was wrong that an unkind report should be written on a play performed by schoolchildren, said Mrs Doreen Grant. Such a review discouraged- the pupils. The writer had expected too much, and there was nothing constructive about the report. The headmaster (Mr C. Cross) said he could not comment, and all he could say was that the production had been most successful. Children, of course, had to get used to criticism, he said.
