Hockey Assn Anniversary

The Canterbury Women’s Hockey Association will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary on Saturday.

The celebrations will begin at 2JO p.m. when two teams of past players will play an exhibition match. Included in the probables team is Mrs M. Moses, who is 81. Visitors from all over the South Island will attend the dinner in the evening. Included in the specially Invited guests will be the association’s patroness. Lady Manning, Mrs H. Poulter, who has been Canterbury’s resident delegate in Wellington since 1927, and the association’s seven life members —Mesdames I. Iggo, G. Dawe, E. Miles, S. Muiraon and J. Armstrong and Misses B. Beattie and E. Byrne. Mrs A. Rhodes was the first president when the association was formed in 1908. Since then Canterbury has had many successes in the national K Cup competition, the meet recent being Ln 1985 and 1966. Mrs Miles was the first president when the umpires association was formed in 1940.
