Glasshouse Guide
Christie Glasshouse Guide. By G. W. T. Christie. John Mclndoe Ltd (Dunedin). 143 pp.
It is not often that one is presented with a horticultural publication which is aimed directly at the practical man and which can really claim to be just that However, this is O Qe book which achieves its objectives admirably and as such should prove an invaluable guide to anyone wishing to become conversant with techniques and associated matters relating to all forms of glasshouses and allied structures. There is considerable overseas literature devoted to the subject matter of this book, which also includes information on propagation, control of glasshouse conditions, banging baskets, and aftercare of various plants both ornamental and otherwise, but this is one of the first written for Australian and New Zealand conditions, by a New Zealander. Of particular appeal is the direct presentation with the minimum of wordage. The text is accompanied -by a host of very clear photographs and diagrams which will help in the identification of plants and structures mentioned and in appreciating better the techniques and problems discussed.
