TROTTING Seafield Countess In Fine Kurow Cup Trial

Seafield Countess attracted further attention to her prospects in the Kurow Cup tomorrow when she gave away starts of up to 60 yards and finished third to Dutch Courage and Double Step, both on the limit, at the trials held yesterday at Addington Raceway.

Dutch Courage, a popular fancy for the Omarama Handicap at Kurow, finished on boldly for his win after pacing the 13 furlongs in 3:35 4-5, the last half-mile in 1:2 3-5, and the final quarter in 30 1-5.

Seafield Countess, which was making ground strongly at the finish, must have recorded about 3min 21 2-ssec, a sound run for a mare in her class. Crovdon Avenue shaped well for his engagements at Addington when he finished fourth, ahead of Kaikoura Chief. Waratah, a rival of Dutch Courage in the Omamara Handicap at the Kurow meeting, gained a splendid win in the other heat of the 2min 18sec Class pace, recording 3min 33 2-ssec for the 13 furlongs, the last half-mile in Imin 4 2-ssec. Waratah beat Jay Queen and Bramble Hall, which appeared to meet trouble at the straight entrance. Misty Morn made ground for fourth, ahead of Los Altos.

Clandeboye recorded a sound trial for the Waitaki Hanover Stakes when he won the first heat of the 2min 20sec class pace, recording 3min 41 l-ssec for the 13 furlongs, the last half-mile in Imin 3sec. He looks ready to make a bold showing.

Baffle Boy was under a hold in second place, ahead of Smokey Express and Quite Local, which started from 36 yards. She will have a great

chance in the Bemnore Handicap.

Intrepid shaped well when he won the other heat, which was run at a very slow pace. He came from last at the straight entrance to beat Nebraska Queen, which lost 60 yards at the start, with Galena and Jimmy Dick next. Jimmy Dick also shaped well.
