There was a good sale for fruit and vegetables at Christchurch markets yesterday. A good supply met with a steady demand and prices were slightly higher than recent rates. Lettuces were in good supply. These sold up to $4.30 a case. The official range of prices, supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Association is: Silver Beet. —To $1.40 a case. Beetroot.—To 50c a case. Pumpkins.—To $7.60 a sack. Cabbages.—sl.6o a case to $2.30 a sack. Carrots. —To 80c a sack. Cauliflowers.—To $2.10 a case. Onions. —To $2.75 a sugar bag. Parsnips.—To 50c a case. Sprouts.—s4.3o to $6 a case. Swedes.—To $l.lO a sugar bag. White Turnips.—To $1 a dozen bunches. Potatoes. —80c to $1.25 a sugar bag. Kumeras.—To $3.60 a sugar bag. Spring Onions. —To 80c a dozen bunches. Parsley.—To 18c a bunch. Lettuces.—To $4.30 a case. Leeks.—Boc to $2 a case. White Celery.—To $2.20 a case. Utah Celery.—To $2.30 a case.
