British Offer To Russia
■ (N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright i LONDON, Aug. 8. The British Government has offered technical aid to help the Soviet Union formulate its next five-year plan. The offer was made by the Minister of Trade (Mr Anthony Crosland) at a dinner to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the Russian section of the London Chamber of Commerce, at which he forecast that trade between the two countries would be a record this year. “At the moment, the next Soviet five-year plan is in its formative stage,” Mr Crosland said. “If we can have consultation now we might well be able to put forward proposals for British participation in the expansion of those of Its sectors where our expertise and technology would be of particular value to the Soviet Union.
Eisenhower Recovering.— General Dwight D. Eisenhower remained under constant medical care in Walter Reed Army Hospital today, continuing his recovery from his third heart attack this year.— Washington, August 8.
