SIX-WEEK TOUR
Quartet From France Twelve years after its first visit, the Parrenin Quartet, from France, will arrive in New Zealand today to begin a six-week tour for the Chamber Music Federation. It is scheduled to play in Christchurch on August 19. The Parrenin Quartet, which specialises in contemporary French music, will play works by Milhaud, Boulez, Skalkottas, Berg and Elliott Carter at its New Zealand concerts. But it will also perform works from the classical repertoire by composers with whom many concert-goers will feel more at home—Schubert, Beethoven, and Haydn. The Parrenin Quartet was founded in 1944 by Jacques Parrenin, its first violinist. Each member was a concert artist in his own right before joining the quartet.
