PRICE OF BUTTER

Drop Not Advised (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 12. New Zealand should not drop the price of its butter on the London Market at present, the Minister of Overseas Trade (Mr Marshall) said today, commenting on the Australian decision to lower its price for one brand. “A weakening of the British butter market is a matter of concern to us since we are by far the biggest suppliers,” he said. “New Zealand butter has. however, been selling well at present prices whereas the sale of Australian butter has been dropping. “I do not believe that we should reduce our already low price, but the Dairy Board will have to judge this In the light of the effect of lower Australian prices on sales of New Zealand butter.” Mr Marshall said.
