EXPENSIVE FAILURE

Town Crier At Trentham (From Our Own Reporter) TRENTHAM. Town Crier gave backers an expensive early setback in the Corunna Hurdles at Trentham yesterday. The Southland-owned Wanga-nui-trained Bellborough gelding was made favourite after a second on the first day of the Wellington meeting. Altogether he carried $9255 in doubles and for a win-and-place but he stopped almost to a walk about seven furlongs out and finished at the tail of the field. Until he put his toes in he was going kindly in third position. Town Crier carried $4141 of a double pool of $18,160.
