SUSPENSION BY COUNCIL

Chief Traffic Officer (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 10. The Mt Albert Borough Council last night decided to suspend its chief traffio officer, Mr L. A. Ferguson, until Tuesday, when his appeal against a council resolution calling for him to tender his resignation will be heard.

Mr Ferguson has been with the Mt Albert council for 23 years and is due to retire in two years. At last night’s meeting it was said that the decision to ask Mr Ferguson to tender his resignation was made by the council at a meeting in committee on June 25. Today, Mr Ferguson said he knew no reason why he had been suspended. A letter received by him from the council today said he would have an opportunity to appeal to the council on July 16 and he certainly would appear. The Mayor (Mr F. G. Turner) said today that he could not give reasons for the suspension.
