MANAGER OF HOTEL DENIES RUMOURS

“For some little time I have been greatly concerned about rumours circulating which reflect on the conduct of this hotel and the behaviour of certain persons in it,” said Mr R. Cooney, manager of the White Heron Lodge, yesterday. “These rumours are of a de. spicable kind. They have involved both the management and staff of the hotel, including myself, as well as some well-known local personalities. So far as they concern the hotel and myself, the rumours are completely untrue. 1 have made inquiries, both official and unofficial, concerning

the other persons affected by the rumours and I am satis tied they are equally untrue, in respect of these persons. ‘They seriously reflect upon people who, in the nature of their calling, are more exposed to false and hurtful rumours than most, and are in large measure unable to protect themselves from such rumours or prevent their circulation and repetition. If there should be any such repetition I will most certainly take advice to see what legal redress can be obtained for the hotel and all persons, including myself, who are affected In this way.” . —Advt
