SPEED LIMIT CHANGES
Baisweil And Tai Tapu Speed restrictions suggested by the Transport Department were approved for sections of the Akaroa State highway at Halswell and Tai Tapu by the Paparua County Council last evening. A 30 m.p.h. limit was adopted for the highway between Sparks Road and Glovers Road, which is at present a limited speed zone. The 30 m.p.h. limit was also placed on seven other roads running off the highway. Through Tai Tapu township, where there is now a limited speed zone, the council decided to ask for a 40 m.p.h. limit from the highway bridge to Michaels Road. The Transport Department said that it did not think a 30 m.p.h. limit was necessary on Boon Hay Valley Road, as its rough condition and bends limited speeds to 20 to 25 m.p.h.
